Forms+Surfaces is a leading designer and manufacturer of architectural products used to enhance life in public space - indoors, outdoors, and everywhere in between. Our Design+Development team consists of Industrial Designers, Textile Designers, Engineers and a skilled Prototype Team fueled by a love for problem solving and driven by collaboration. At F+S we design and manufacture all of our products from the ground up with an emphasis on innovation and sustainability. We pride ourselves on the investigation and execution of products and concepts that no one else brings to market.

Currently, we are seeking a highly talented and creative individual to join our team as a Product Designer focusing on outdoor site furniture and lighting product development. As a member of our diverse in-house team, you will report to the Director of Product Development and work with our engineers to conceptualize, detail, prototype, and eventually deliver fully realized products for the market. Experimentation and collaboration are essential to our development process, as a designer focusing on our outdoor product market segment; your mission will be to design innovative products that allow Landscape Designers and Architects to re-imagine public space.

The successful candidate will be a highly organized, skilled communicator and have the ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while bringing positive energy to the team. This opportunity will require frequent travel across different F+S facilities, and architectural offices and working with a cross-departmental team of dedicated professionals who share the company’s passion for designing and manufacturing products that enhance life in public spaces throughout the world.

Position requirements:
• Industrial Design Degree Preferred.
• 2-4 years relevant work experience preferred.
• Must have CAD and digital skills; SolidWorks, KeyShot, Adobe Creative Suite. Rhino/Grasshopper is a plus.
• Diverse portfolio of work with attention to detail, and innovation, highlighting the process and problem solving.
• Compelling interest in manufacturing processes and continuous improvement.
• Must have the skill and ability to rapidly move through sketch concept exploration and iterative process.
• Experience developing conceptual designs into presentations and drawings.
• Ability to communicate & maintain design intent to a cross-functional team from concept to completion.
• Positive attitude with an emphasis on self-motivation and personal growth.
• Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize workload as needed.
• Maintaining the organization of project sketches, drawings, consultant information, and milestones.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
• An eye for detail and the ability to understand the greater context will be critical skills for success.
• Needs to be hands-on and comfortable in the prototyping shop creating models and sketching prototypes.
• Insistence of high-quality work with great focus on detail.
