Job Overview The Director, Technical SEO drives Macy's technical search strategy, ensuring platform-level SEO health, performance, and discoverability. This leader partners closely with engineering, product, site merchandising, and analytics teams to address complex SEO challenges and build scalable infrastructure for long-term growth. The Director leads enterprise-level initiatives across indexation, page performance, structured data, mobile rendering, and site architecture. What You Will Do Translate strategic priorities from the Senior Director into actionable technical requirements. Develop and evolve Macy's technical SEO roadmap and execution strategy across teams. Lead audits, diagnostics, and SEO recommendations related to crawlability, indexation, performance, and rendering. Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to scope, prioritize, and integrate SEO requirements into sprints and releases. Ensure robust structured data coverage, mobile parity, Core Web Vitals compliance, and scalable internal link architecture. Oversee SEO considerations for site migrations, template changes, and platform enhancements. Manage and mentor a team including a Senior Manager and two Technical SEO Specialists. Define success metrics and enhance visibility through reporting, dashboards, and quality assurance systems. Assess and implement enterprise SEO tools such as Botify, Screaming Frog, and Google Search Console integrations. Represent SEO in technical planning and cross-functional roadmap discussions. Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities. In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned. Skills You Will Need Technical SEO Expertise: Deep understanding of indexation, crawlability, structured data, Core Web Vitals, mobile rendering, and scalable internal link architecture for large enterprise websites. Web Development Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript frameworks, rendering models (client/server-side), and performance optimization techniques. Strategic SEO Planning: Ability to translate strategic goals into a technical SEO roadmap and define execution plans across multiple workstreams and teams. SEO Diagnostic Tools Proficiency: Expertise in using tools such as Google Search Console, Botify, Screaming Frog, PageSpeed Insights, and Adobe Analytics to conduct audits and monitor performance. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven success partnering with engineering, product, analytics, and site merchandising teams to integrate SEO requirements into sprints and releases. Analytical Thinking: Strong skills in identifying technical SEO opportunities, compiling actionable insights, and creating measurable success metrics and dashboards. Leadership & Team Management: Experience managing and mentoring high-performing teams and aligning team outputs with broader business goals. Influence & Communication: Ability to effectively influence product and engineering leaders through clear, compelling technical requirements and business cases. Problem Solving & Prioritization: Strong organizational and decision-making skills to triage complex SEO challenges and prioritize high-impact initiatives. Change Management: Expertise in guiding SEO strategy through site migrations, platform enhancements, and large-scale template changes. Who You Are Candidates with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 7+ years of experience in technical SEO, ideally in an enterprise e-commerce or large-scale content environment. Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
