Dr. Rafael Sanchez-Salas is an internationally recognized urologic surgeon and clinician-scientist specializing in minimally invasive treatments for prostate cancer. A pioneer in focal therapy, he currently serves as President of the Focal Therapy Society.

He earned his medical degree as Valedictorian from Universidad de los Andes (Venezuela) and completed advanced training in urological oncology and minimally invasive surgery across institutions in the USA, Chile, and France.

Dr. Sanchez-Salas previously led robotic and focal therapy programs at L’Institut Mutualiste Montsouris in Paris before joining McGill University in 2021. He is actively involved in global urology leadership, serving on the executive boards of the SIU and CAU and contributing to editorial boards of major urology journals.
