Prof. SUNG YONG CHO 🇰🇷

distinguished graduate of Seoul National University College of Medicine (SNUCM),

has been a prominent figure at Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH) in South Korea since 2019 He

specializes in urology, focusing on treating conditions like urinary stones, benign prostate hyperplasia,

stricture, and upper tract urothelial carcinoma.

Within SNUH, Dr. Cho leads important departments like the Specialized Endoluminal Endourology-Stone

(SEES) Center, Therapeutic Ultrasound Lab (EASYURO) for urolithiasis and prostate diseases, and the

Medical Device Development (MDD) Supporting Division, including the Usability Test Center (UTC) within

SIMTRI (SNUH Innovative Medical Technology Research Institute). He is the first president of the Korean

Society of Usability for Medical Devices (KoSUMeD) since 2023.

He is a leading expert in Korea & East Asia for endoscopic surgery for stone and enlarged prostate such

as flexible ureteroscopy surgery (f-URS), supine and miniaturized percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL),

and Endoscopic Combined IntraRenal surgery (ECIRS). Dr. Cho is actively performing Anatomical

Endoscopic Enucleation of the Prostate (AEEP) using Holmium Laser (HoLEP) and bipolar electrodes

(BipoLEP/TUEB) as well.

He represented Korea in the Asian Guidelines of Urolithiasis Panels in 2019 and has shared his

knowledge through papers and live surgeries at global conferences. He actively participates in

international societies like the Endourological Society, SIU, UAA, and has founded the Asian Urological

Society of Endoluminal & Technology (AUSET, www.endoluminal.org) and the Endoluminal Technology
