Job Description Social Media Manager
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid 3 days/week in office)
Compensation: $70,000$90,000 base salary + benefits
About the Opportunity
Our client is a high-growth, consumer-packaged goods (CPG) company with deep roots in culinary craftsmanship and a modern edge in flavor innovation. Known for redefining the premium protein space with natural ingredients and bold recipes, theyre rapidly expanding their national presence and investing in a strong digital voice to match their in-store momentum.
They are looking for a Social Media Manager to take ownership of day-to-day content creation and community engagement across key platforms. Reporting to the Director of Social Media, this role is ideal for someone who blends creativity, trend awareness, and sharp execution. If you love food, digital culture, and short-form video this is your playground.
Key Responsibilities:
Social Media Strategy & Execution
Build and maintain a monthly content calendar aligned with brand campaigns, product launches, retail activations, and seasonal moments
Ideate, create, and curate engaging short-form content that highlights product usage, flavor appeal, and lifestyle value
Manage daily posting, scheduling, and optimization across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube Shorts
Monitor and act on relevant food, lifestyle, and cultural trends, applying a brand-relevant twist
Content Creation & Storytelling
Collaborate with internal creative teams and agency partners to produce visually compelling, on-brand content
Shoot and edit original content when needed, bringing ideas from concept to execution
Translate in-store activations into content that encourages digital engagement and trial
Community Management & Engagement
Actively engage with the brands social community by responding to comments and DMs and initiating meaningful interactions
Help evolve and maintain a consistent, friendly, and food-forward brand voice across platforms
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Marketing and Sales teams to support retail programs, LTOs, and new product introductions
Contribute to influencer strategy by helping identify partners and integrate creator content into the social calendar
Provide creative support for paid campaigns, including writing copy and repurposing content
Analytics & Optimization
Track and report on performance metrics including engagement, reach, shares, and community growth
Translate insights into actionable optimizations for content types, posting cadence, and audience engagement
Stay on top of platform updates and emerging social features to keep the brand ahead of the curve
Qualifications
~5+ years of experience managing brand social media accounts, ideally in food & beverage, wellness, or lifestyle CPG
~ Deep understanding of TikTok and Instagram, including trends, short-form video strategy, and platform tools
~ Strong eye for design and storytelling with ability to produce high-quality content independently
~ Proficiency with Meta Business Suite, Ads Manager, and social content amplification
~ Excellent communication and writing skills with a clear grasp of tone, voice, and audience engagement
~ Passion for food culture, grocery retail, and consumer behavior
Tools & Skills
Comfortable using Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools for content creation
Familiar with scheduling and analytics platforms such as Later, Sprout, Linktree, and Meta Business Suite
Basic understanding of influencer marketing strategy and content repurposing
Awareness of retail calendars and how to translate in-store events into digital stories
