The staff physician (psychiatry) is assigned to the VA San Francisco Health Care System (VASFHCS), Mental Health Service, providing comprehensive, efficient, compassionate, high quality healthcare to all patients, functioning as a member of the inter-disciplinary team providing clinical care to the patients at VASFHCS. As a Staff Psychiatrist, the incumbent with function primarily a clinical inpatient position within the Acute Recovery Center (inpatient hospital), providing psychiatric care to Veterans admitted into the unit including providing psychiatric evaluation and treatment in collaboration with other members of the health care team. Within this role, the incumbent also serves as an Interventional Psychiatry provider, participating with the administration of Ketamine, Electroconvulsive Treatment, and/or Transmagnetic Cranial Stimulation services to veterans at the San Francisco Veteran's Administration Healthcare System. Duties include complying with VA directives, performing staff evaluations and supervision of psychiatrists and nurse practitioners, supervision and mentorship of UCSF trainees, and serves as VA faculty back up, providing supervision for on call UCSF residents at the SFVA.
